Founded as a special Institute for the Mercer University Townsend School of Music, The Robert McDuffie Center for Strings is named for nenowned Violinist and the center’s founder, Robert McDuffie. Students of the McDuffie Center perform, collaborate and record with the finest orchestras, string ensembles and conductors around the world. Before it was the Robert McDuffie Center for Strings, the home was known as The Bell House, the home can be seen on the cover of the Allman Brothers’ 1969 self-titled album.
